We’re looking to add more face painters to our roster. As an independent contractor you’ll already have your own kit. Bonus if you also do things such as festival glitter, glitter tattoos, or other fun artistic things.   Our artists make $70 per hour, plus travel for anything 20KM outside of Kitchener-Waterloo.  As clients contact us, they can specifically request you, otherwise we work from a rotation based system to ensure fair bookings amongst our team.  Contractors are still welcome to take their own bookings beyond what is provided through Storybook Events. Hero/Princess/Mascot Performer Auditions:

Anyone is welcome to apply!   We are specifically encouraging men, and performers of colour to audition as in addition to expanding our current team we are looking to fill certain roles within the fairy-tale universe. If you identify as one of the following, we’d LOVE for you to apply: Chinese, Polynesian, Middle-Eastern, Black, Latina, Indigenous.   Storybook Events strongly believes in Transcendent Casting, so while you may be expected to often play the character of your descent, being a person of colour you can also expect to play traditionally caucasian characters in certain scenarios, to encourage representation! You can read more on transcendent casting here: :https://www.storybookevents.ca/transcendent-casting  How It Works Our Princesses, Heroes, and Mascots, play a variety of different characters. As an independent contractor, performers will run provided activities at Birthday’s, Parties, Corporate Events, and more. Performers will attend a training session, where they will learn the ins-and-outs of party performing, so while it would be an asset, no experience is necessary. No performers will attend events alone, they will always have a “Party Host” present to help execute the party schedule, and ensure performer and client safety.   We proudly provide appropriate monetary compensation to our artists, and as such, rates will always equal more than minimum wage. Per-Party rates are negotiated based on applicant experience. We assign performance opportunities through a rotational basis to ensure fairness, the number of parties assigned in a month varies based on bookings, with summer being our busiest season.   Performer Requirement & Audition Details   Our ideal performers will meet the following criteria:  Suggested Age Range: 18-35 Suggested Measurements (so we know you can fit into the existing costumes): Men Size S-L. Women Approx. Size 4-9.  Able to pass or already have a recent vulnerable sector police check.  Valid Ontario G Class License is an asset.  Previous work with children and/or performing/improv is an asset.  Performers must be double vaccinated.   To apply you’ll be expected to list any special skills, provide a headshot and resume, fill out several questions, and complete and submit the video audition below based on your identifying gender.   Those auditioning for female presenting characters will be required to submit a video audition performing 16-34 bars of a "Princess" song that highlights your vocal talents. IN THE SAME VIDEO please also record yourself singing 34 bars of "Let It Go" either the original or transposed version. Please begin your video by saying your name!  We would prefer that you not sing a capella; please use a backing track or live instrumental accompaniment, for "Let It Go" we've provided the preferred links below.
